A water wave model was presented by tidal wave partial differential equations in the form of two-dimension, nondimensionalization, and matrix. Numerical simulation of water wave adopted Chebyshev spectral method to solve the partial differential equations. As an example，propagation of a water wave in a square pool due to a water column perturbation was simulated. The simulation result agrees with wave diffusion rule and numerically verified by the same amount of water in the pool. The result...

Topics: State Space, Differential systems, Differential equations, Discontinuous Differential equations,...

This booklet is a revision of the authorâs lecture to high school students taking part in the Mathematics Olympiad at Moscow State University. It gives a review of the results and methods of the general theory of algebraic equations with due regard for the level of knowledge of its readers. No proofs are included in the text since this would have required copying almost half of a university textbook on higher algebra. Despite such an approach, this booklet does not make for light reading. Even...

This publication is the second book. of the "Elements of the Theory of Functions and Functional Analysis," the first book of which ("Metric and Normed Spaces") appeared in 1954. In this second book the main role is played by measure theory and the Lebesgue integral. These con- cepts, in particular the concept of measure, are discussed with a sufficient degree of generality; however, for greater clarity we start with the concept of a Lebesgue measure for plane sets. If the...

Electricity and Magnetism by A. N. Matveev . This course reflects the present level of advancement in science and takes into account the changes in the general physics curriculum. This course mainly aims at the description of the experimental substantiation of the theory of electromagnetism and the formulation of the theory in the local form, i.e. in the form of relations between physical quantities at the same point in space and time. In most cases, these relations are expressed in the form of...

Topics: physics, electricity, magentism, maxwell's equations, gauss' law, current, potential

The book is devoted to one of the most interesting branches of number theory, the solution of equations in integers. The solution in integers of algebraic equations in more than one unknown with integral coefficients is a most difficult problem in the theory of numbers. The theoretical importance of equations with integral coefficients is quite great as they are closely connected with many problems of number theory. Moreover, these equations are sometimes encountered in physics and so they are...

The back cover says: This study aid is to help the student to master the basic techniques of solving difficult problems in trigonometry. The book contains theoretical material, many worked competition problems, and some problems to be solved independently (the answers being at end of the book.) Intended for high-school and precollege students. The book has some interesting things, for example it introduces the trigonometric functions as a feature of a trigonometric circle instead of a...

The booklet deals with a fundamental method of analytical geometry and its ability to describe geometrical figures through equations. This method permits geometrical study and solution of geometrical problems by algebraic means, thus making a visual representation of complex spatial configurations superfluous. Considerable attention has been devoted to the question of representing geometrical figures through equations, which is often difficult for those who being to study the method of...

The present book is a collection on the problems on the equations of mathematical physics studied in colleges with comprehensive mathematical programme. It consists of two parts, the first of which contains the conditions of the problems and the second the answers to the problems and detailed explanations of the solutions of the most difficult problems. The material of the first part is divided into five chapters in which the problems are grouped according to the type of partial differential...

Topics: mathematical physics, problems and solutions, differential equations, partial differential...

The present book consists of an introduction and six chapters. The introduction discusses basic notions and definitions of the traditional course of mathematical physics and also mathematical models of some phenomena in physics and engineering. Chapters 1 and 2 are devoted to elliptic partial differential equations. Here much emphasis is placed on the Cauchy- Riemann system of partial differential equations, that is on fundamentals of the theory of analytic functions, which facilitates the...

The aqueous phase oxidation of acetic acid, used as a model compound for the treatment of CELSS (Controlled Ecological Life Support System) waste, was carried out in the monolith froth reactor which utilizes two-phase flow in the monolith channels. The catalytic oxidation of acetic acid was carried out over a Pt/Al2O3 catalyst, prepared at The University of Tulsa, at temperatures and pressures below the critical point of water. The effect of externally controllable parameters (temperature,...

An acoustic muffler design of a research tool for studying laminar flow and the mechanisms of transition, the Laminar Flow and Transition Research Apparatus (LFTRA) is investigated. Since the presence of acoustic pressure fluctuations is known to affect transition, low background noise levels in the test section of the LFTRA are mandatory. The difficulties and tradeoffs of various muffler design concepts are discussed and the most promising candidates are emphasized.

Current and pending oceanographic remote sensing technology allows the conceptualization of a programme designed to investigate ocean island interactions that could induce short-term nearshore fluxes of particulate organic carbon and biogenic calcium carbonate from pelagic island archipelagoes. These events will influence the geochemistry of adjacent waters, particularly the marine carbon system. Justification and design are provided for a study that would combine oceanographic satellite remote...

A SIMPLE THEORETICAL EXPLANATION OF THE AERODYNAMIC COOLING OFTEN FOUND NEAR THE BASE AND IN THE WAKE OF BLUFF BODIES IS PRESENTED. THE THEORY IS BASED ON COMPRESSIBLE POTENTIAL FLOW AND MAKES USE OF THE ENERGY INCREMENT ASSOCIATED WITH THE UNSTEADY VELOCITY-POTENTIAL TERM OF THE ENERGY EQUATION IN CALCULATING THE TEMPERATURE AT A POINT IN UNSTEADY FLOW FOR THE GENERAL CASE. THE CASE OF TWO-DIMENSIONAL FLOW PAST A CYLINDER IS EXAMINED IN DETAIL.

Equations, by American poet Adam Fieled, takes the form of a dialectic, and explores sex, relationships, and philosophy. It was initially released as a print edition by Blue & Yellow Dog Press in 2011. This 2018, online pdf edition, features a preface and a cover shot taken at Montreal Botanical Gardens in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and was used as a template for a second print edition of Equations, also released in 2018, by Blue & Yellow Dog Press.

The mission requirements for some satellites require that they spin continuously and at the same time maintain a precise direction of the spin axis. An analog-computer study has been made of an attitude control system which is suitable for such a satellite. The control system provides the necessary attitude control through the use of a spinning wheel, which will provide precession torques, commanded by an automatic closed-loop servomechanism system. The sensors used in the control loop are rate...
